Profiling the Maltese Entrepreneur : A model and preliminary findings

نویسنده

چکیده

This study explored the relevance of specific factors that influence the development of entrepreneurs in the Maltese setting. The literature focused on exogenous factors such as family, education, culture, institutional support, as well as the political and economic climate. A model based on the literature was drawn and its applicability and generalizability amongst entrepreneurs in Malta was examined. The experiences of ten participants were studied through the use of in-depth interviews. The results showed generally that these factors are important in the formation and experiences of the Maltese entrepreneur. However, the relevance of each factor needs to be understood after a consideration of the appropriate realities of a micro-state like Malta.
